Nemea — Who We Are

Nemea, the hidden treasure of the Peloponnese, an ancient region in Southern Greece rooted in history, health and the Herculean ethos of longevity and resilience.

My connection to Nemea is deep and eternal, it is the place my beloved Manoula-Mother was born over 80 years ago.   This place, Nemea, carries so many stories, life events, traditions and the roots of my family.

Last summer when my niece Vanessa chose to marry in Corinth, just a short distance from my mother’s town, it gave my extended family a beautiful reason to reconnect with our heritage and the place where our family story began.

So, I extended the invitation, hired a bus and transported nearly 40 family members including cousins, siblings, spouses, children and friends to go back in time and feel the essence of our parents and grandparents.

Truly, on that 101-degree scorching hot day, we enthusiastically gathered to solidify our identity as a people.  

The day was filled with stories, memories, nostalgic and joyful revelations culminating with honor and respect for those who came before us.  

We experienced a profound and timeless sense of WHO WE ARE as family. We shared Philoxenia- Φιλοξενια, the love and honor of another.

Νemea, is home and it’s family, but it is also a connection that continues through generations.  Our journey is only beginning.
